Place of publication Glasgow
Publishing responsibility Napier and Khull for John Kirk

Much of this work was taken from Pitton de Tournefort’s Relation. It is suggested that Thompson is a pseudonym for an unknown author who wrote an imaginary voyage. This theory is strengthened by the fact that the first edition appeared in 50 weekly issues. This format is very unusual for a straightforward book of travels, but it was the norm for novels that were later issued in book form.
